Cannon `s Double Azalea Flowers

Cannon `s Double Azalea

Cannon `s Double Azalea
Azalea x 'Cannon `s Double' (Exbury hybrid)

It would be difficult to describe the color of the Azalea, because it was more at a time. It was very easy on the eyes. It is about 6 feet tall and has a colorful red foliage. I will try to have one of these.

Cannon `s Double Azalea

Here is a partial list of plants planted in the small farm the last two days. Sorry for the mix of common and botanical names. It's just the way it came out. Plants marked with an asterisk are ones I have not grown before. Since it is the northernmost of our gardens, I must watch what we plant. It is much colder. Lucky about 3 miles is a large nursery that I know very well. They grow much of their own stock of propagation is therefore a good test on climate and the plants are already acclimated.

A Rhododendron and Azalea

A Rhododendron and Azalea

A Rhododendron and Azalea, this was great flower. do you know i Post this flower? yeah you correct. This Flower is Very Beautiful flower, with read dominan.
With Rhododendron and Azalea there are several thousand cultivars to choose from, so unless it is a common variety there isn't much hope of getting the name. Both of these were growing in public places so there was no quizzing the gardeners on the name.

Today I going to try and visit all 14 gardens that we are tending to this year. I was joking the other day that there are four people and 14 gardens that is 3.5 gardens per person. It is a bit ambitious since they are all pretty far flung but it should provide some photo opportunities. I am cleaning off some memory cards and charging up the batteries. I am even going to take my Coolpix 8400 with me. I haven't used that camera in awhile and it is always fun to mix up the equipment now and then.

Wild Geranium Flower

Wild Geranium, have great flower, while you see this flower you will feel great. This flowr maybe not expensive like orchid, but this flower make me better. Flower is great to make your heart warm. This was a new variety to me and I have to say that I like it. The flower is the typical delicate beauty of the species but I think the foliage is probably the reason to grow this plant. It is dark and very nicely detailed. This cultivar was developed by North Creek Nursery (Landenberg, Pennsylvania ) from a plant they found in the woods. They claim that it keeps its foliage color throughout the summer, which sure would be nice.

Wild Cranesbill is a clump forming perennial that is easy to grow. I usually locate them in part shade or the woodland garden but they can also make a nice addition to the border. They do like some moisture to look their best. If they start looking a little ragged I lightly shear them to get some new growth. I am going to try a few 'Espresso' and see how they do. Maybe then I can capture the beauty of the foliage.

Climbing Rose ‘Royal Gold’

http://www.johnstonplants.com/fl.shrub/rosa%20golden%20shower%20climbing%20rose.jpg

The name of this rose is Climbing Rose 'Royal Gold', unique name? yeah this was first time i hear about this rose name. I don't know why this flower called  Climbing Rose 'Royal Gold'

Rosa 'Royal Gold'
Breeder: Dr. Dennison Morey, United States (1957)
Height: 10 feet
Parentage: Goldilocks, Cl. × Lydia (hybrid tea, Robinson, 1949)
Hardy to USDA Zone 6

'Royal Gold' is a beautiful colored climbing rose that is named perfectly. It is such a deep yellow. It also has strong fragrance. This rose has actually been trained into a pillar type, which is a first for me. So far so good.

I picked 'Royal Gold' because I wanted this to be a home grown post. I have decided to include a couple of garden pictures from work. You will see why they are not posted very often. I am a lousy landscape photographer and don't seem to be getting any better. Compressing the photos to fit in this space doesn't help, either. Here a few snapshots from some of the gardens this week.

The Estate's Mountain Laurels (Kalmia) are blooming right now. This is one of the best patches but there are many others spread throughout the garden. This picture was taken looking out from inside the garage. The Mountain Laurel goes on for about 20 more feet outside of the frame. It is funny because this is definitely one of the hottest parts of the garden. The sun is really strong here and the Mountain Laurel thrives. It makes me think that people often plant Mountain Laurel in too much shade. If you look over to the bottom right side you can see my little patch of Blue Star (Amsonia tabernaemontana) that has been growing strong for 20 years. I have never divided it and it still comes up every year. Please excuse the Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus). I shouldn't be growing it since it invasive. There is actually a little waterfall and pond that it is growing in. It is cut down completely after it is done flowering. I am going to straighten that bird house tomorrow

https://www.gardenexpress.com.au/images/P/Royal_Gold-01.jpg

These next two are a different house. I liked the combination in the first one. Both of these were taken with my point and shoot (Nikon Coolpix 8400) but I actually use the manual controls on it. I am going to try and post some more garden photos tomorrow.

Golden Mountain Cornflower

Golden Mountain Cornflower
Cornflower, trust me, i never find this flower in my area. If orchid or adenium i will find very easy. This plant maybe only will you find in special place.

more about Golden Mountain Cornflower
Centaurea montana 'Gold Bullion'
(sen-TAR-ee-uh) (MON-tah-nuh)

There was recently a post on 'Amethyst in Snow', which is another cultivar of Centaurea montana and I thought that one was eye catching. This flower was pretty amazing to me. It is not for everyone, I am sure, but having a small patch of these would be fantastic.

The Mountain Cornflower doesn't require a lot of care to grow. The one thing they don't seem to like is wet feet in the winter. Other than that they seem to happily grow just about anywhere. With 'Gold Bullion' and a lot of other gold foliaged plants you are going to want full sun for the best leaf color.

The name Centaurea comes from Greek mythology. Chiron the centaur was said to have used the flower to heal the wounds from one of Hercules' poisoned arrows.

Fanfare Indian Blanket Flower

I love this flower. Make me feel comfortable. Do you have one?

Indian Blanket
Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Fanfare'
(gay-LAR-dee-uh) (gran-dih-FLOR-uh)

I hadn't seen this variety of Blanket Flower before so while getting its picture this bee flown into the frame. Neither the camera nor I were quite ready for that but it worked out. 'Fanfare' has a remarkable flower color on a compact plant. The flowers seem a little more incised than the normal Gaillardias. It is a sport of 'Dazzler' Blanket Flower. If you don't know what a sport is in botany it is defined as "an organism or part that shows an unusual or singular deviation from the normal or parent type; mutation."

Blanket Flowers are getting more popular. Earlier this year, on this site, I was lamenting how few cultivars the nurseries were carrying around here. This year there was a lot more to choose from, which is the beginning of a trend, I hope. Until further notice I am considering these flowers as annuals. They just don't seem to come back for us.

Since it is Ruby Tuesday here is a shot that I have been holding on to for awhile. It is a rare flower since until recently they didn't think there were any red flowered Hoyas. It is a strange little plant and the flowers are weird and unusual. This picture is from the Main Greenhouse at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, New York. They had several species of Hoya and they were all blooming on the tenth of May. This one didn't have a proper identification tag but did have a little sign like they use at a steakhouse that said 'Rare'.

Dendrobium derryi Ridl 1907

Dendrobium derryi Ridl 1907, maybe you only will find in indonesia. This Orchid not easy to find in my area, and i think if you want to buy this flower, you must work hard.

Dendrobium derryi Ridl 1907 is found in Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Malaysia. My Dendrobium derryi is from Sumatera. When i received the plant, it has no live root at all. I was worried that this plat which belong in the Oxystophyllum section will not make it.

After a few months, there was a new bulb. And then more bulb. And after so long (probably almost a year), it bloomed for the first time, and only one flower.

I put the slab under open air, no shade at all. However, the roof of my house protect it from the mid day to afternoon sun.
